This article describes the liaison and alignment model used by the University of Antofagasta together with the city’s secondary teaching institutions. Run by the University’s own Language Department, the model offers a scholarship programme for the teaching of English as a second language. It aims to improve English language learning for Antofagasta’s high school students and support them to achieve academic certification of the language on the Touchstone Cambridge Learning Platform. This research investigates, through descriptive methods, how integration of the programme’s high school students works, and how their participation in the programme directly impacts Antofagasta’s high school students though their inclusion.
